I have struggled with insomnia on and off for most of my adult life. I came to see Caryn during a prolonged period of insomnia. I wasn’t having problems falling asleep, but I would wake up throughout the night and lay awake for hours. I was exhausted all the time. This was impacting my mood, my appetite, my ability to manage stress at work, my interest in socialising and my overall quality of life. I’d tried over-the-counter sleeping aids, prescription medications and herbal remedies, all of which either didn’t work for me or left me feeling cloudy the following day and worrying about whether I would be able to sleep the next night if I didn’t take them. I was skeptical but desperate, and interested in exploring a non-pharmaceutical, non-habit forming way to help me sleep better. A few days after my first treatment, I slept for 8 hours straight — on a long haul flight! Over the next few weeks, I found that while I was still waking up a few times during the night, I was able to fall back to sleep straight away. During the daytime, I started feeling like a different person. I was ready to get up before the alarm, and started to feel energised, positive and calm. I found that I was approaching stressful situations more rationally, and not finding them so stressful. My posture has improved, and tension that I’ve been carrying in my shoulders and upper back for years has been significantly reduced. Insomnia is frustrating and isolating, and I am so relieved to no longer be resigned to living with its consequences. I am so appreciative of what Caryn has been able to do for me over six short weeks. I came in search of a good night’s sleep – she’s given me that and so much more!
